[Ftffacilitationteam] Representation at the Montevideo, Secretariat and CRIAW meetings

Dear colleagues,
 
This note will summarize the FTF representation at the Montevideo meeting, 
the Secretariat meeting on improved communication and coordination, and the 
CRIAW meeting in Ottawa.
 
Montevideo meeting:
After numerous consultations with members of the Facilitation Team (FT) and 
others, the following four names (the initial 3 slots plus one under the 
auspices of the Secretariat meeting) have been prioritized to represent the FTF at 
the Montevideo meeting:
 
- Rosa Lizarde, alternate member of the IFT / North America  
- Prisca Kambole, member of the FT of the FTF representing Southern Africa 
- Josephine Kamel, member of the FT of the FTF representing the Middle East
- Marta Rico, Flora Tristan, Peru representing Latin America

 
This has been a diffucult process and based on your information this was the 
formulation that seems to work best.  We are trying to maximize points of 
engagement to have a strong representation of the FTF at the meeting.  The issue 
of representation with our Asian colleagues, Lysa and Chona, has been resolved 
and they are planning on attending.  
 
We want to communicate this to you before sending the names to the group.  If 
there are no opposing voices, we will send confirmation of these names 
tomorrow morning.  IF YOU ARE O.K. WITH THESE NAMES, THERE IS NO NEED TO SEND A 
MESSAGE.  If you have questions or concerns, then send an e-mail to the list.  
 
We will be exploring the option of having Susana Checa, from FOCO, Argentina 
attend the meeting as an observer.  Another representative of FOCO will be 
there as a regional rep and the price of a ticket is not as expensive coming from 
Argentina to Uruguay.
 
Our concern in having Marianela Carvajal Diaz, de GCAP - DR attend since she 
has been active with GCAP for a long time, represents youth and has expressed 
an interest to continue on the MTF again.    - We are exploring options to 
have her attend through one of the points of entry--task force, regional level, 
national.  
 
 
Canadian Research Institute for the Advancement of Women Forum - The CRIAW is 
organizing a national forum on “Women Resisting Poverty and Exclusion: 
Alternative Visions and Practices." 
 
Pam Rajput has expressed an interest in attending.  Someone also mentioned 
Marcela.  MARCELA, COULD YOU PLEASE INDICATE WHETHER YOU ARE INTERESTED OR NOT.  
If Marcela is interested, then we'll revisit this.  However, if she is not, 
then Pam would go to this meeting to represent the FTF.  The deadline for this 
is Wednesday.
 
Secretariat meeting on May 6th
We are thinking that should they be confirmed, either Prisca or Josephine 
should be attend the meeting which the GCAP Secretariat is organizing for May 
6th.  It is important that someone proficient in English and from the FT attend 
as they will most likely not have translation.  The purpose of the meeting is 
to discuss improvements in communication and coordination within and amongst 
GCAP members.  If either one of you is interested, please let us know and we'll 
forward you more information.
 
N.B.  Those selected to attend the Montevideo meeting would need to send the 
filled out registration form TOMORROW---NO LATER---to attend the meeting.
