Thanks for your overwhelming support of Ana's nomination.  We've  submitted 
her name and have received confirmation from the GCAP  secretariat.  We also 
nominated, as Ana pointed out in an earlier e-mail,  Clair Courteille of the 
International Trade Union Confederation  (ITUC---previously the ICFTU) as the 
female candidate from the North.

Dear friends,
 
As you have been informed, the IFT has approved the selection of  co-chairs 
for GCAP and we are currently soliciting names of women for  co-chairs.  Some 
of you may have noted that Rehana and Pam have nominated  Ana (their support is 
copied below), and I most certainly support this  nomination.  She has not 
only worked tirelessly during her term as FTF  coordinator, but would represent 
all of us women and gender  concerns---and would be a representative from the 
Global South.  I  cannot say enough here about Ana's nomination, but what I 
primarily want to  say is that we have a deadline of tonight to send in our  
nomination.  I ask you to send your endorsements.  Also, if you  have any 
nomination for a woman from the North, please also send those to me  and Ana at 
_rosaencasa en aol.com_ (mailto:rosaencasa en aol.com)  and _ana en icae.org.uy_ 
(mailto:ana en icae.org.uy) .
 
To recap, the general guidelines of the co-chairs are:  
 
·          The term of the IFT  Co-Chairs is from August (at the time of the 
IFT meeting) to December 31,  2007, subject to renewal with the implementation 
of the new structure of GCAP  from 2008. 
·          There will be THREE  Co-Chairs. Kumi has agreed to continue as 
Co-Chair, the other two should be 1)  both women; and 2) one from the north and 
one from the south. 
·          Should have been  active in GCAP and come from an organization 
already a members of  GCAP
