Dear Ana, and all

Sorry for the delay in responding to you because of a delay in the meeting with my local organization. Local organization agrees in principle to carry out the women's tribunal and we think that we can manage within the fund allocated. However, we are waiting for the concept paper to crystalize the idea, plan for it and prepare an itemized budget.

Thank you
Josephine

Dear Marcela,
those are the translations we are constantly doing to keep the two lists running. So that part does not refer to the tribunal. We keep translating documents and other things and the ten months are from March to December.

Querida Marcela,

Saludos,
Ana

Dear Anna: Only one question. Why you have count 10 montsh for translations ? I assume that the only tranlations are from spanish to english ( Peru). But the rest of the participants to the tribunal, I assume are english speaking '( India- Africa english speaking or french/portuguese speaking ?) .
the rest is quite ok.

Marcela.

Ana:
marcela

Dear friends, queridas amigas (español abajo)

Following Lysa's message I think it will be possible for Rosa and myself to develop a concept on the basis of what we have included in the general proposal. I have to coordinate with Rosa and we will agree when we will be sending it to you all.
In terms of budget, you will certainly recall that we had asked for USD 122.000 to implement all what we have agreed upon at the Nairobi meeting. We have received USD 50.000 and in one of our calls we decided that we would prioritise the Women's Tribunal.
I have prepared now a new budget which I am sending for your comments. We will need later to do more fundraising for the other plans that need to be left out for the time being, like the evaluation meeting, but at this stage we need to make sure that we can implement the tribunals in the four planned locations.
I have basically kept the budget for the New York tribunal, only taking out one witness from the South (there were originally two and now there is one, as there will be other tribunal taking place in the South). Then I assigned funds for each of the other three tribunals, giving a bit more to India as there has been clear indication that you will be working as a region.
I would very much appreciate your comments, tell me if you think this distribution makes sense, if you have any other suggestions. I would very much appreciate it if you ALL answer, so we can move forward with the preparations.
Thanks to all!!!
Greetings,
Ana

Amigas,

Ana

Subject: Re: Gcap-women Digest, Vol 28, Issue 25
Dear Ana, Rosa, Pam & ChonaHello again! Just to update that I have put forward our proposal to support the organizing of the IWTP on October 17th to the Steering Group and would be hearing from them by the end of this week. However there are few more details that we need to work on to be able to plan towards the proposed event: 1. Concept: As you have mentioned in your mail to Nisha, it would be important to have a concept note that outlines the overall issues, objectives, and expected outcomes of the IWPTs and serves as the basis for the efforts in each region. I wonder if it would be possible for Ana & Rosa to develop a 1-2 page background that can be adapted to the context of each region? For instance, Pam could take the lead in facilitating an Asia Core Group which can detail the politics and profile of the IWPT in Asia and develop a guiding document for the region accordingly? 2. Budget: It is wonderful to see the interest to make this a regional event, however that has huge implications in terms of the resources available. It would be important to know how much is available through the FTF at this stage and compare it with an estimate of costs that Chona & myself could work out (based on the projection of no. of participants, nature of event outlined in the concept note(s). We would then need to make a realistic assessment of the resources if we can raise over the next 2 months itself in order to be able to develop the IWPT as a regional event, or whether we need to settle for a primarily national event with a few representatives from relevant countries. 3. Logistics: Once the basics on the Scope & Resources of the event are clarified, we could accordingly invite key groups in India to form a sort of Hosting Committee / Local Organizing Committee. A first meeting of the LOC could be jointly called by NAWO & WNTA and possibly in the last week of July itself, if we are clear about proceeding on this event. These are some thoughts on my end in relation to what we need in order to move forward.I am also copying this to Amitabh in his role as the Convenor of the India Campaign, as well as Marivic & Amitabh who are the IFT members from Asia for their information & inputs. Best regards,Lysa John, WNTA
