Dear All, A Skype conference call took place at 14:00 GMt, present at the call were Ana Agostino, Roza Lizarde, and Josephine Kamel.  The subject discussed was as per the attached e-mail the funding request was for an amount of $ 122,000.00 as itemized in the budget sent earlier to you, while the fund received is $ 50,000.00 which is less than half of the GCAP/FTF needs.  The funder which is Oxfam/Novib said that they are looking for other funders.  Suggestions proposed during the call were as follows:


To prioritize our needs within the present budget

Address Oxfam Novib to know who are the other new funders for GCAP so that Ana can send them the proposal

Encourage regions and national coallitions to fund raise for their events

Agree on the next conference call to take place 1:00 GMT May 30, 2007Your comments on the above mentioned will greatly be appreciated. Josephine on behalf of Ana and Roza

Josephine just called me on Skype and reminded me that I had not sent the agenda of the meeting.
First of all let me tell Elizabeth that I also need your Skype name. Thanks!
And about the agenda: I want to share with you the answer from OXFAM NOVIB to our request for funds. I am attaching the budget we sent (together with the proposal prepared on the basis of what we all agreed upon in Nairobi). You will see that the total amount requested for a year is USD 122.000.
I had received a message from Rudolf (who attended the Montevideo meeting) indicating that the FTF would received Euros 50,000, which amounts to approximately USD 68,000. But then I received the official message, with copy of the contract, saying we have been granted USD 50,000. So I wrote back to confirm whether it was Euros of USD and this week I finally got the confirmation that the FTF has been granted USD 50,000. This is way below what we need, so we must come to an agreement of what we can do and cannot do with the funds we will be receiving. That´s basically what I wanted to talk with you on the call today, besides finalising the distribution of tasks. If you cannot join today, nevertheless, please send your comments. Thanks!

me acaba de llamar Josephine por Skype para recordarme que no he enviado una agenda de la reunión.
Quisiera abordar el tema de los fondos y la respuesta de OXFAM NOVIB. Adjunto el presupuesto que enviamos (que acompañó la propuesta preparada en base a los acuerdos alcanzados en la reunión de Nairobi). Allí verán que el total de fondos solicitados era de USD 122.000.
Hace un tiempo recibí un mensaje de Rudolf (quien participó de la reunión de Montevideo) indicando que el ETF recibiría Eruos 50,000, que es aproximadamente USD 68,000. Pero luego recibí la notificación oficial con copia del contrato ya llí aparece el monto de USD 50,000. Escribí de nuevo para confirmar si se trata de dólares o euros y finalmente esta semana recibí la confirmación que se trata de dólares. Es decir, para el trabajo de todo el año del ETF recibiremos USD 50,000. Es mucísimo menos de lo que necesitamos y debemos ponernos de acuerdo respecto a qué podemos hacer y qué no. Eso es básicamente lo que quisiera conversar con ustedes aparte de terminar con la distribución de tareas. Si no pueden participar del llamado de hoy por Skype, de todas maneras les agradezco que me envíen vuestros comentarios. Gracias,
