<DIV>Dear colleagues,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thanks, Ana, for sending out this info. In anticipation of an FTF
meeting in Feb/March for the CSW, I will be registering all FTF members for the
CSW. This needs to be done by Dec. 31st of this year. Afterwards, it
is harder to register names. However, we can swap names easier after
registering this year.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>As Ana has said, next year's CSW will be an excellent opportunity for us to
caucus and present findings for the Tribunals in India, Peru and Egypt in New
York, along with some NY groups presenting some findings. I am organizing
this for late Feb/early March. The CSW will be held at the United Nations
headquarters in New York from 25 February to 7 March 2008, so planning ahead is
important. Having the CSW end on March 7th will enable people to get back
to their countries for their March 8th activities (leaving a few days earlier,
of course). The theme of this year's meeting is "Financing for Gender
Equality and Women's Empowerment" which fits very well with the GCAP mandate and
the FTF focus on gender and poverty. Beginning on Monday 25 February and
Tuesday 26 February 2008 there will be discussions on the main theme mentioned
above. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>To begin to look at dates, I think we should plan to meet as FTF perhaps
the weekend before the CSW starts. On the Sunday before the CSW there is
always an orientation and meeting rooms are more available. I'd like
to propose this since I am thinking women would like to head back to their
countries before March 8th. How does this fit in with others'
schedules?</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I am sending a link to the CSW here: <A
href="http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/csw/52sess.htm">http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/csw/52sess.htm</A></DIV>
<DIV>If your organization has ECOSOC status, you can pre-register by Dec.
31st. I would urge you to do so and let me know so I don't have to do that
for you. Even if you are not sure whether you will be coming, it is good
to pre-register and can be canceled later. The pre-registration ensures
you a letter from the UN in January for visa purposes.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I am really excited about these prospects. The CSW will attract lots
of women from around the world interested in this topic. As mentioned
before, the FTF is part of a group and facilitating women's organizations'
participation on Financing for Development (aid, trade, debt,
governance/systemic issues). More information will follow, however these
focus areas are very much in line with our work. Any and all
feedback is welcomed. For now, please get back to me on the proposed
dates and if you can pre-register for the CSW. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Warm regards,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
