<table cellspacing='0' cellpadding='0' border='0' ><tr><td style='font: inherit;'>Dear Marcela, Dear All,<br><br>Thank you for circulating the draft proposal on gender and climate change. You have indeed come out with a very comprehensive paper. I have circulated the draft to some lead persons in SENCA coaltions, and please find below comments from Nur Amalia, of GCAP Indonesia on your draft paper. Sorry if this is coming abit late, but I hope you can incorporate these in your paper.<br><br>I am hoping to receive additional comments from SENCA people, and will send them to you as soon as i receive them.<br><br>Best always,<br>chona<br><br>Chona Leah Ramos<br>GCAP SENCA Coordinator<br>Tel: +632 3833802<br>Mobile: +63 9209090053<br>www.gcap-senca.net<br><br>============================<br><div>Dear Chona,</div> <div> </div> <div>I've read the
discussion paper on gender and climate change. For me, it is too
scientific and abit difficult to break down for the implementation,
specially related with GCAP concern on poverty, trade justice, debt,
ineqalities, etc. </div> <div> </div> <div>I suggest that the
discussion paper more explain about the impact of global negotiation
(through UNFCCC and other direct scheme : IFIs, bilateral and
multilateral development assistance) to women, which are:<br><br></div> <div>1.
Biofuel policy to change the existing fossil fuel - to reduce emission
versus food security . Because annex 1 countries need to change their
consumption pattern from fossil fuel to biofuel, alot of developing and
LDCs open big plantation and make forest conversion. It causes
increasing of food prices, cooking oli prices and women suffer because
they take care of their household (increase poor women burden how
to spend their limited money and resources to meet her family needs);<br><br></div> <div>2.
REDD policy - even it still being discuss and elaborate until 2012, the
pilot project in some countries already being prepared and will be
in operation this year (2008 or 2009). The basic question is : who own
the forest and who give the permission for REDD, who get benefit
and who get disaster from REDD scheme?. Women (specially rural and
indigenous women) are always got double disaster than men, because they
depend on the forest (as bank, market, and drugstore-pharmacy). When
REDD implemented, it means there will be no access for women to enter
the forest because the forest will be protect by the forestguard ,
become restricted area like conservation area - to prevent forest fire,
illegal logging, etc) .<br><br></div> <div>On the other hand, worldbank
already start its grant for study, which will be follow up by WB other
debt for technical assistance to implement REDD (for sufficient and
high technology for measuring the existing emission and to take
satelite photos on the condition of existing forest, etc). Lack of
information and access for women on the policy and decision making
process is very crutial at this stage. </div> <div><br>3.
Health issues related with climate change- increasing of new deseases -
bird flu, dengue, etc, will increase women's burden at home because she
take care of the family and children when they become sick, or if the
women itself become sick , she still take care her family and children.</div> <div> </div> <div>Thats my comment and hope other will give inputs from developing-southern contry perspectives.</div> <div> </div> <div>regard,</div> <div>nur</div> <div><br><br><b><i>gcapsenca secretariat <gcapsenca@gmail.com></i></b> wrote:</div> Dear Nur, Kaori, Hyekyung, and Marivic<br><br>Please
