<DIV>Dear colleagues,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>At yesterday's IFT call (I replaced Ana on the call) we discussed the Food
Crisis effort and actions GCAP can take around the June 3-5
mobilizations. One of the efforts mentioned in the Mobilization Task Force
call on Tuesday (and mentioned in the women's list serves) was to
collect stories from the grassroots, in particular from women and
girls, on how the food crisis is affecting them. This was something
reiterated on yesterday's IFT call and supported by colleagues on the
call. This is one are which we can really highlight the added burden on
women and girls. We ask that you please send stories about how the food
crisis is disproportionately affecting women and girls to Sarah (<A
href="mailto:sarah.gregory@civicus.org">sarah.gregory@civicus.org</A>) with a
copy to me and Ana. They are asking for short entries---a paragraph, two
paragraphs of women and girls' voices. Also, if you know of someone who
can be a spokesperson for those days, please send their name and contact
info. This could be you if you are planning activities these days.</DIV>

<DIV>Also, we will be sending a communique to announce the recent updates within
the FTF, i.e. coordinator/alternate, new task force members (Climate Change and
MTF) as well as the announcement that Luisa Cruz Hefti will rejoin the FTF-FT
from Europe. Originally from Peru, Luisa has agreed to be our European
representative since she has been based in Switzerland for the past 8 months and
can interface with women's NGOs and GCAP Europe in the region. As you
know, since Nerea departure as the EU rep, we have faced a lack of
representation in Europe, a region which is very active and
well-organized. Luisa will be able to fill that void since she has already
been on the FTF-FT and an active member of GCAP for many years. If you recall,
Luisa speaks/writes in Spanish and French fluently, and doubling
efforts in English to where she is now communicating in English on line.
We welcome Luisa back to the group.</DIV>
