<DIV><FONT size=2>Dear all,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>We have up to now receive confirmation of interest from Pam
and Luisa. I am wondering about Josephine, as she was particularly interested in
the issue of economic literacy. Josephine, could you please confirm whether you
will be attending or not. We hope you are able to make it as this is an
important activity and we also want to have a FTF meeting.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Confirmed already are: Rosa, Marcela, Marta Benavidez, and the
indication of Pam and Luisa, plus myself. So quite a good
attendance.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>I would suggest that Rosa, Pam and Luisa start doing your
bookings. I know that Marcela has already done it and I already have my ticket.
Please send us the costs so we can reimburse you before you travel, or even
before you have to do the payment. We will also cover accommodation and per
diems. Besides us as FTF members, we are inviting grass roots women who can make
presentations of their own experience, and there will be women attending the
conference who have a long experience on gender, education and poverty who will
also make presentations at the workshop. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Besides the one organised on the 18th of May as self organised
activity, there will be another workshop on Gender, education and poverty at the
conference itself that is being organised by REPEM, the Latin American Network
of Women working on women's popular education. They had asked us for suggestions
on possible speakers and we think it would be great if Rosa and Josephine (as
they are looking for someone from Africa) could also be speakers at this
workshop that will be inside the CONFINTEA VI. This one will take place on 20 or
21 May. This is important for the dates of your return tickets. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>In summary, I would very much appreciate it if we can get the
following confirmations:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Josephine: whether you will be attending (and we really hope
you will be there!!). If you are, please confirm if you are able to participate
at the workshop inside the Conference that will deal with gender, education and
poverty.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Luisa, Rosa and Pam: send us costs of tickets so we can
already do the transfers for you to buy the tickets.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Rosa: besides the ticket cost, please confirm if I can give
your name for the workshop inside Confintea. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Below (in message from 26 March) is the suggested concept
for our workshop on the 18th of May, please send us comments.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>I am also including this concept in Spanish:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>
</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I look forward to your feedback!</DIV>
<DIV>Thanks,</DIV>

on economic literacy</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Dear all,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>I am finally writing to you in relation to the
workshop.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>As you probably recall, we had agreed upon as part of our
work plan for 2009 to organise a workshop on economic literacy. Josephine had
in fact sent a concept for a programme on economic literacy. The workshop will
not be the space for developing the programme but it can be an input as part
of the debate. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>The idea is to present a workshop on economic literacy that
will focus on experiences from grass root women (looking at whether the
economic initiatives they are involved in have really empowered them, and if
so, in which ways) and at the same time, what is the link of these local
practices with the global processes that so many women are working on, in
particular the financing for development process. There will be contributions
from women working at the local level, others at the global level, we will try
to see how the educational dimension plays a role in poverty eradication, and
we think that we should also have an analytical framework introduced that
will include a critical approach to development, etc. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>The workshop will be co-organised by the </FONT><FONT
size=2>Gender and Education Office (GEO) of ICAE and the FTF. This is a very
important articulation as it brings together women working in the education
sector and women mobilised around poverty eradication, in an effort
to bring these two dimensions together. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Rosa, Marcela and I are confirmed to be there. Pam and
Luisa have indicated interest. We would like to confirm not later than next
week who will be attending, as the International Civil Society Forum in which
it will take place is from the 16th to the 18th of May. This will be previous
to the UN conference on adult ecucation, so it is a key opportunity to do
lobby with governments that will be there. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>I look forward to all your comments, and hope to have
confirmations by next week. In the meantime I will work on a programme
proposal for the workshop.</FONT></DIV>
