Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann The President-elect of the 64th General Assembly H.E. Mr. Ali Abdussalam Treki Your Excellencies, We are comprised of a broad cross-section of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) representing various interests and sectors: labour, women’s organizations, faith-based groups, debt coalitions, groups focused on aid, trade, tax justice, innovative finance, systemic reform. We are organized into the Global Social Economy Group (GSEG), and the Global Crisis Group. We participated actively in the preparatory process and in the historic UN Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and its Impact on Development (24 to 26 June, 2009). We have made substantive contributions to the work of the Commission of Experts of the President of the General Assembly (the Stiglitz Commission). Through our advocacy efforts, we urged governments to agree to an Outcome Document that would be commensurate to the challenging task of formulating and implementing comprehensive policies aimed at bringing countries out of the crisis, and restoring lasting and equitable growth. We believe that our active participation in the Conference contributed in no small measure to the Outcome Document and the follow-up, which will be the focus of the 68th General Assembly, as the international community continues to seek a way forward and out of the crisis. We are highly appreciative of the opportunities that were accorded us, for such active participation. We were heartened that the General Assembly has adopted Resolution A/63/305 which formally established the ad hoc open-ended Working Group to follow up on the issues contained in the Outcome Document of the Conference. We are also encouraged by the appointment of two co-Chairs to steer the activities of the Working Group. We are firmly committed to staying engaged with the follow-up process. We urge you to continue the excellent tradition established by the Conference and its preparatory process, in according a space for active participation of our coalition of CSOs and NGOs in the follow-up activities of the Working Group. Given the broad-based constituencies of people we represent, we believe that our contributions will continue to be invaluable in enhancing the follow-up process towards a balanced and just reshaping of the global financial and development architecture. They will bring in the voices and perspectives of those normally excluded from decision-making, though bearing the brunt of the negative impacts of the financial and economic crisis. These invaluable contributions will serve to inform and refine the policy-making in all of the areas critical to development: poverty eradication, decent work, gender equality, financing support, systemic reforms. We therefore ask that you give serious consideration to our request, and explore appropriate modalities to allow for our participation in the activities of the ad hoc open-ended Working Group established to follow-up on the Conference. We thank you for your attention, and look forward to your response to the request made in this letter. Yours sincerely, Member organizations of the Global Social Economic Group (GSEG), and the Global Crisis Group: PAGE PAGE 2 4689j‡‰ВГКШЫЯ# $ ; D G H I b c d e g y } Ќ Ў Е Ж Й єхжЦжхжЦжКжхКхЎŸŸŸЎuiuЎŸЎŸЎŸZŸZŸhSRNh)5uCJOJQJaJhdCJOJQJaJhFxАCJOJQJaJhSRNhпвCJOJQJaJhSRNhш5хCJOJQJaJhSRNh&CJOJQJaJhwzŸCJOJQJaJhSRNCJOJQJaJhSRNhSRNCJH*OJQJaJhSRNhSRNCJOJQJaJhSRNhРлCJOJQJaJh“mЌCJOJQJaJ#Jij›КЮЯ @A†ЛFG4›јјјјјээфэээээлаЧОМГЎgdР넇^„‡gdz Цј%gd№с Цј%gdz Цј%Єhgd№с Цј%gdпв 7$8$H$gdSRN Цј%ЄgdпвЄgd)5u6ўўЙ Ю ю l Б v   Ѓ Є Т У Ц Ч L M \ ` o q ?SXmqvyz‰ŒОПЦЧй6ёхёйёЭйСйЕйЕйЕйЕЉхЉСЉ™ЉŠ{ŠСŠ{СŠЕŠЕŠЕŠСŠЕŠlhzh[OCJOJQJaJhSRNh[OCJOJQJaJhSRNh&CJOJQJaJhKlhKlCJH*OJQJaJhKlCJOJQJaJhN *CJOJQJaJh№сCJOJQJaJhFxАCJOJQJaJhwzŸCJOJQJaJhdCJOJQJaJhSRNhпвCJOJQJaJ*69;=>?@AFHPQV„…†ИЙЭа§ 8:EQКЛ[‰šЊИШЫей№ !"#&'DGHIKm™GётётётётётётёгЧИЌИтёИёИёИётёЌгЧгЧг‘Ќ‘Ќ‘Ќ‘Ќ‘Ќ‘Ќ‘Ќ‘Ќ‘Ќ‘Ќ‘h›VNCJOJQJaJhzh›VNCJOJQJaJh№сCJOJQJaJhzhKlCJOJQJaJhzCJOJQJaJhzhzCJOJQJaJhzh[OCJOJQJaJhzhN *CJOJQJaJ8GJXanx‘ЃМРЭцљњ234EšЁЌЎЩь єшєшєшєшєшєшйшйшйшєЭОшОЏ “ƒs“ƒd\X\hb_jhb_UhSRNh,вCJOJQJaJhSRNhпв>*CJOJQJaJhSRNh,в>*CJOJQJaJh§C->*CJOJQJaJhSRNh&CJOJQJaJhSRNhпвCJOJQJaJhSRNhРлCJOJQJaJh‹=OCJOJQJaJhSRNha=ЅCJOJQJaJha=ЅCJOJQJaJhN *CJOJQJaJ"› &'(34567§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ёш§ёш§§§„h]„hgdЪwC „јџ„&`#$gdb_$%&'()/0123467ќєќєќъфъфрќъфъеъфрќЦhSRNh,вCJOJQJaJhЪwC0JmHnHuhЪwC hЪwC0JjhЪwC0JUjhb_Uhb_5 01h:pЪwCАа/ Ар=!А "А # $ %ААаАа а†œ˜žžžžžžžž666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>666666666666666666666666666Ј6666666666И666666666666hH66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666А6J@ёџJ 9wгNormal dЄШCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA@ђџЁD Default Paragraph FontRiѓџГR 0 Table Normalі4ж l4жaі (kєџС( 0No List DўOђD )5u List Paragraph „а^„аm$4@4 ЪwCHeader ЦрР!.)@Ђ.
