Warm Greetings from India!
Please find enlisted 8 key processes organized through the Month of Mobilization, and towards the World Anti-Poverty Day on October 17th, 2006. A concept note explaining the context and objectives of the Month of Mobilization in India is also enclosed.
People's Actions Against Poverty
KEY ACTIONS FOR THE MONTH OF MOBILIZATON (SEP 16 – OCT 17, 2006)
1.. The presentation of "Debt & Conditionalities – An Indian Testimony" in the International People's Forum vs. IMF/WB (Sep 15-17, Indonesia )
2.. Mass Mailing of 15,000 postcards enlisting 10 policy actions that the government must take in 2006-07 to reduce poverty, discrimination, exclusion and violence
3.. People's Actions & 'Stand Up' events across 10 states of India (Orissa, W.Bengal, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh)
4.. A consultation with the National Commission for Nomadic, Semi-nomadic & Denotified Tribes on ensuring the Right to Livelihood, Health and Education, Oct 3, Delhi
5.. 'Stand Up For the MDGs' event at the ICC Champions Trophy cricket match, 15 Oct, Jaipur
6.. 'Stand Up For the MDGs' Youth Convention, 15/16 Oct, Indore
7.. 'Children's Voices Against Poverty' – 3000 children join hands through cultural action for the commitment of 9% of the GDP to health & education,and launch the call of "Nine Is Mine (9 ka Wada)", 16 Oct, Delhi
8.. Women's Summit Against Poverty – 100 women activists of WNTA from across 10+ states share experiences and build strategies for the future action on the occasion of World Anti-Poverty Day, 17 Oct, Delhi
