[Gcap-mujeres] GCAP structure / Last IFT call / transicion de GCAP

Today we had the last IFT Call for 2007. The major issues addressed at the meeting were mobilisation plans for 2008, the TOR for the transition committee and the transitional Governing Council. With respect to this new structure and the transition period, a decision was taken to extend the mandate of this IFT till March 2008 (hoping to have the new structure on place by then). This gives us time, also as FTF, to take decisions on our representation at the Governing Council that will replace the current IFT. March is a crucial month for us and it might be very good to have a major mobilisation around the 8th (maybe the New York tribunal that was postponed for next year) and combine it with a meeting where we can strategise as FTF for the coming years and our involvement and contribution. 
I hope you can all contribute in this debate as the transition gives us an opportunity for renewing our specific contribution to the policy demands and mobilisation strategies of GCAP.

I am also copying below a call for action for the GCAP activists who have been in jail in Ethiopia for more than two years. This action was also decided at the IFT call. It is important to take part. Thanks!

hoy fue la última reunión del EFI de GCAP para el año 2007. Los principales temas que se trataron fueron el plan de movilización para 2008, los términos de referencia para el comité de transición y el Consejo Directivo de transición. Con respecto a esta nueva estructura y al período de transición, se tomó la decisión de extender el mandato del EFI hasta marzo del 2008 (confiando que a esa altura ya estará en marcha la nueva estructura). Esto nos da tiempo como ETF a tomar decisiones sobre nuestra representación en el nuevo Consejo Directivo que será el que reemplace al EFI. El mes de marzo es un mes muy importante para nosotras y creo que puede ser muy bueno que tengamos una movilización central en torno al 8 (tal vez el tribunal de Nueva York que se postergó para el próximo año) y combinarla con una reunión estratégica en la que podamos definir como ETF nuestras acciones y contribuciones para los próximos años. 
Confío que todas puedan participar de este debate ya que la transición nos da la oportundiad de renovar nuestra contribución específica a las demandas de políticas y a las estrategias de movilización de GCAP.
