Dear colleagues,
one week left until the G8 summit and the concert of "Deine Stimme gegen Armut" (GCAP Germany) on June 7th.
In Germany there is a massive mobilisation running for the topics of "Deine Stimme gegen Armut" and "Africa":
a.. The number of voice in our petition is growing fast thanks to very good media coverage and paid media.
b.. Opinion poll indicates that 67 % of the German public knows "Deine Stimme gegen Armut" (complete results: http://www.deine-stimme-gegen-armut.de/docs/DSGA_Meinungsumfrage_Ergebnisse.pdf, in German only)
c.. The millennium spot (longest click ad in the world) is already more than 21 minutes long (www.millennium-spot.org/en/)
d.. Yesterday a German version of Richard Curtis' G8 film "Girl in the café" was shown on TV - "Deine Stimme gegen Armut" and the "Clicking every 3 Seconds" was mentioned.
e.. Tomorrow the German magazine "Vanity Fair" will publish a "white issue" in support of "Deine Stimme gegen Armut". 8 different covers show 8 international celebrities supporting the campaign.
Voices Petition and Hand-Over
The (symbolic) hand-over of the voices will take place during the concert in Rostock on 7th June and will be the final picture on the stage (broadcasting live in public TV, whole concert will be streamed to the Internet by AOL, www.aol.de/p8). NGO representatives will carry boxes with voices on the stage. GCAP spokesperson Kumi Naidoo will hold a speech on stage and will bring the international voices on stage.
I kindly ask you to send me:
1. Please let me know the number of voices you collected in your country for the global collection by Monday, 4th June (latest!).
2. Please also send the text you used in your petition.
If you plan to come to Rostock and to join the concert please note that you need a ticket! Free tickets are available if you let me know.
>From 5th to 8th June you can call me on my mobile: +49 (0)177 7475490
