[Gcap-mujeres] Activity at CSW - actividad en la CSW

Yesterday we had the presentation of the tribunals and the launch of the 8 
March mobilisation plan at the CSW. The activity went very well and it was 
alos very well attended. The room was full and the participants were very 
interested in the presentations and in the activities of the FTF.
Pam Rajput made the presentation of the tribunal in India. Previously we 
showed a video that you can all access following the link below on you tube:

Lysa John, though not present at the CSW, was very present through her voice 
in the video and the hard work she did for the tribunal. 

Martha Rico presented the tribunal in Peru explaining how cases were 
selected and the whole process that led to the veredict.
And Josephine Kamel introduced the plans for the tribual in Egypt that will 
take place on 14 March.

All presentations generated great interest. And it became clear that we need 
to share with the list and beyond the process of the tribunals as this was 
particularly appreciated by participants as a way to organise their own 
tribunals back home.

We then launched the mobilisation plan for 8 March and distributed all the 
documents with the demands resulting from the tribunals and others, like the 
ones related to the Gender Equality Arquitecture Reform and the financing 
for gender equality.

We also distributed post cards for sending to the UN General Secretary and 
others that can be sent to the policy makers or others that women believe 
should receive them as they are in a position to act. This cards are 
available for download from the internet and we will also be sending you 
copies by e-mail.
The launch of the plan also started with a video clip prepared by the 
support team of GCAP. It's about the mobilisation of women in 2007 around 
the GCAP demands. It is a very good video clip that you can also download 
from the gcap site.

As I write this I cannot but remember the participation of a Masai woman 
from Kenya who, during the time for debate, said that poverty tends to be 
define in terms of having one or two dollars a day, but that lacked all 
significance for her culture, as what is important for the Masai is having 
cattle, not dollars. She went on saying that she knew that at the end of the 
meeting, like in all meetings, it would be said that more information could 
be download from www www www and that she and so many other women in the 
world had not way to get to that www wherever it was! Hers was a strong 
statement reminding us about the diversity of cultures, of realities, of 
world views, of possibilities, and of ways to construct wealth and 
happiness. It is certainly part of what we, at the FTF want to send as a 
message in terms of unveiling different ways women have to confront poverty 
and buld livelihoods. 

We are having our meeting tomorrow and Sunday and will keep you posted.

Ayer tuvimos la presentacion de los tribunals y el lanzamiento del plan de 
movilizacion para el 8 de marzo aqui en la CSW. La actividad estuvo muy bien 
y con alta participacion. La sala estaba llena y las participantes estaban 
muy interesadas en las presentaciones y en la actividad de la FTF. 
Pam Rajput hizo la presentacion del tribunal en India. Antes de que hablara

Lysa John, si bien no esta participando de la CSW, estuvo  muy presente a 
traves de su voz en el video y tambien por todo el trabajo realizado en la 
preparacion de los tribunales de India. 

Martha Rico hizo la presentacion del tribunal in Peru explicando como fueron 
selecccionados los casosy explicando cual fue el proceso que llevo al 
veredicto final. Y Josephine Kamel presento los planes para el tribunal de 
Egipto que tendra lugar en Cairo el 14 de marzo. 

Todas las presentaciones generaron mucho interes, y nos quedo claro que es 
necesario que compartamos con la lista y con otras organizaciones el proceso 
de los tribuanles. Esto fue de gran interes para las particpantes que vieron 
asi la posibilidad de organizar tribunales en sus propios paises. 

Luego presentamos el plan de movilizacion para el 8 de marzo y distribuimos 
los documentos con las demandas resultado de los tribunales y tambien en 
relacion con la reforma de la arquitectura de igualdad de genero y 
financiamiento para igualdad de genero. 

Tambien distribuimos postales para enviar al secretario general de la ONU y 
otras para que las mujeres las envien a quienes les parezca que tienen 
posibilidades de actuar en funcion de esas demandas. Estas postales se 
pueden bajar de la pagina de internet de gcap y estan siendo traducidas al 
espanhol. TAmbien se las mandaremos por estemedio.

El lanzamiento del plan comenzo con un video clip que fue preparado por el 
equipo de apoyo de GCAP. Es sobre la movilziacion de las mujeres en el 2007 
en torno a las demandas de GCAP. Es un muy buen video y tambien se puede 
bajar del sitio.


Mientras escribia la ultima frase no pude dejar de pensar en una 
participante de Kenia, Masai, que durante el debate planteo que la pobreza 
tiende a ser definida solo en terminus de uno o dos dolares por dia, pero 
que eso no tiene ningun sentido en su cultura, donde lo importante para una 
mujer masai es contar o no con Ganado. Tambien dijo que sabia que antes de 
terminar la reunion alguien iba a decir que se podia obtener mas informacion 
bajandola de www www www y que ella y muchas otras mujeres alrededor del 
mundo no sabian ni podian llegar al famoso www!! Su intervencion fue muy 
significativa y nos recordo a todas la diversidad de culturas, de 
realidades, de visiones del mundo, de posibilidades y de maneras de 
construir riqueza y bienestar. Sin duda es parte de lo que tratamos de 
trasmitir como mensaje en el ETF respecto a la capacidad de las mujeres de 
contruir alternativas frente a la pobreza. 

Manhana y el domingo tenemos la reunion del ETF y las mantendremos 
informadas.
