A Call for Action in Favour of the Right to Education for All as a
Universal Human Right during the World Social Forum Global Day of Action (26
January 2008)
Dear Friends,
As a member of the World Social Forum International Council (WSF-IC), the
International Council for Adult Education (ICAE) participates in the WSF
Global Day of Action (26th January 2008) by encouraging and inviting all
member organizations, campaigns, social movements and NGOs working in the
field of education to partake in a global call for action in favour of the
right to education for all. This call for action demands from governments
and policymakers across the world for renewed commitments and efforts toward
the fulfilment of the right to education for all as a universal human right.
It comes at a most opportune time where the world over commemorates the 60th
Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 2008.
In this light, we therefore invite you to widely distribute and circulate
the call for action enclosed in this mail -- encouraging your networks to
send it on the 26th of January 2008 -- to local and national authorities and
policy makers; various bodies in the United Nations (UN); and international
development agencies and cooperation to remind them that this right has yet
to be fulfilled.

En calidad de miembro del Consejo Internacional del Foro Social Mundial, el
ICAE Consejo Internacional de Educación de Personas Adultas hace un
llamado a la acción, en el marco del Día de Acción Global del FSM: 26 de
enero de 2008, invitando a todas las organizaciones, campañas, movimientos
sociales y ONG miembros que trabajan en el área de la educación, a llamar la
atención de los gobiernos con respecto al cumplimiento del derecho a la
educación para todos y todas como un derecho humano universal, considerando
también que en el 2008 se cumple el 60º Aniversario de la Declaración
Universal de los Derechos Humanos.Por este motivo, los invitamos a hacer
circular el llamado a la acción adjunto y a estimular a las personas y a las
organizaciones a que lo envíen, el 26 de enero de 2008, a los gobiernos
locales y nacionales, a organizaciones del sistema de Naciones Unidas, a
autoridades de la educación, ministerios, agencias de cooperación e
internacionales, en su país y en todo el mundo, para recordarles que el
