I am writing to you all a brief message to share some information on the FTF 
meeting that took place on Saturday and Sunday. Rosa and I are preparing a 
communique that will be sent soon but I want to share the main topics we 
addressed and the results of the meeting.
We looked at the activities of 2007 and at how we worked as FTF. In this 
respect the consolidation of the Facilitation team, with representation from 
all regions and a close link to the work of the national coalitions of GCAP 
was seen as an area that we need to pay special attention. 
Most of the meeting was dedicated to plan our activities for the coming 
three years. This was very productive, as we drafted a very good plan with 
clear focus and defined activities which we will be sharing with you all. We 
want to continue with the women's tribunals, and the areas that will feed 
into them will be violence against women and its connection to poverty; 
Financing for Development/financing for gender equality/aid effectiveness; 
women and climate change; and as crosscutting we want to monitor MDGs 1 and 
3.
On Sunday women who are not members of the facilitation team joined us and 
their inputs were very important not just for the future plan but also to 
evaluate our work up to now.
I also want to tell you that our presence was felt at the CSW due to our 
cards campaing (electronic and hard copies). Many women signed the cards 
addressed to the Secretary General with demands for 8 March and Rosa will be 
handing them in before the end of the CSW. 
We also mobilise around the appointment of the UNIFEM Executive Director and 
we hope this happens by 8 March.
The CSW negotiations go on, though yesterday NGOs were not allowed to enter 
the rooms where official negotiations were going on. I am leaving today but 
I am sure we will hear from some of our colleagues who are still at the CSW 
what happens finally with the document. 
Thanks to all of you who were active these days with us here and we are 
sorry that some of you could not attend as so many activities were taking 
place at the same time, but we hope to read you on the list soon!

Les escribo un breve mensaje para contarles de la reunion del ETF que 
tuvimos sabado y domingo. Rosa y yo estamos preparando un comunicado que les 
mandaremos pronto, pero queria compartir algunos de los puntos de la reunion.
Revisamos las actividades implementadas durante el 2007 y como trabajamos 
como equipo en ese anho. En ese sentido, le dedicamos bastante tiempo a la 
necesidad de consolidar el equipo facilitador con representantes de todas 
las regions y con un trabajo de mayor coordinacion con las coaliciones 
nacionales de GCAP. 
La mayor parte del tiempo la dedicamos a planificar actividades para los 
proximos tres anhos. Fue muy productivo el trabajo en ese sentido y tenemos 
un buen plan con un foco claro y actividades definidas. Queremos continuar 
con los tribunales y vimos que los temas que van a informar estos tribunales 
seran: violencia contra las mujeres y su relacion con la pobreza; 
financiamiento para el desarrollo/financiamiento para la igualdad de 
genero/efectivdad de la ayuda; mujeres y cambio climatico; y como 
transversal el monitoreo de los ODM 1 y 3. 

El domingo participaron mujeres que no integran el equipo facilitador y sus 
aportes fueron muy bueno no solo para el plan futuro sino para evaluar 
nuestro trabajo hasta ahora. 
Tambien queria decirles que tuvimos una clara presencia en la CSW a traves 
de la campanha de las tarjetas (tanto virtuales como reales). Muchas mujeres 
firmaron las tarjetas para el Srio. Gral de la ONU con demandas para el 8 de 
marzo y Rosa las estara entregando nates del final de la CSW. 

Tambien nos movilizamos para que se nombre a la directora ejecutiva de 
UNIFEM antes del 8 de marzo y confiamos que eso se concrete.


Las negociaciones de la CSW continuan pero ayer no permitieron entrar a las 
ONG a las salas de reuniones oficiales. Ya salgo hoy de regreso pero estoy 
segura que nuestras companheras que continuan aqui nos contaran que ocurre 
finalmente con el documento.

Gracias a todas las companheras que nos acompanharon en estos dias y 
lamentamos que algunas de ustedes no pudieron estar porque habia tantas 
actividades a la misma hora. Confiamos que se comunicaron en breve a traves 
de la lista.
