<DIV>Rasheeda seria una buena seleccion para el 'task force-grupo de
trabajo' del Presidente de la Asemblea General para las audencias de los
Paises Menos Desarrollados. Apoyaria la nominacion de Rasheeda,
quien es de un pais menos desarrollado, y como dice Kumi, fue activa
el ano pasado durante la Cumbre como punto focal para los medios de
Asia. Estuvo en Beirut y esta involucrada con various asuntos
como educacion y mujeres.</DIV>

<DIV>Se que el Presidente Eliasson queria terminar este proceso del "task force"
la semana pasada porque las audencias son el 22 de junio. Rasheeda seria
excelente y ayuda a asegurar balance de genero.</DIV>

<DIV>Para su informacion, se que uno de los otros grupos que tendra
representacion sera el grupo de mujeres. Como me lo contaron hoy,
todavia no tienen organizacion representativa de este grupo. Los otros
grupos son grupos de fe, grupo monitorio de PMDs (LDC Watch), Social
Watch). He oido que tambien quieren representantes del norte, y quizas de
NY. Un atraso es que no tiene dinero el task force porque no designaron
fondos los paises dentro de la resolucion que creo la audencia y el task
force. Se espera que el Pres. Eliasson solicitara fondos en una carta a
los paises miembros. Comunicacion del Task Force de PMD sera por
teleconferencia, y sabemos por experiencia ellas que estuvimos en el task force
de las audencias de la Cumbre el ano pasado, que buena comunicacion y seguir el
proceso cercamente son clave para ser efectiva en el task force. Lo
bueno es que las audencias de los PMD seran de un dia completo, en cambio las de
VIH/CIDA seran solo de 3 horas. Tambien, para que sepan (y importante para
LAC) habra otro task force y audencias sobre Migracion (el 12 de julio).
Este proceso se facilitara dentro de la oficina del Presidente Eliasson tambien
pero no esta tan desarrollado como los otros dos procesos, y todavian buscan
organizaciones representativas de este tema.</DIV>

representative on the advisory panel planning<BR>the Civil Society forum
around the LDC process in the UN (see attached).<BR>Though the letter was sent
a couple of weeks ago I have only received it<BR>on getting back to the office
in Johannesburg today after the Beirut<BR>meeting.<BR><BR>I would like to
propose that someone else takes my place. As I received<BR>the invite in my
capacity as chair of the International Facilitation Group<BR>of GCAP I wanted
to check my decision with you all.<BR><BR>I want to propose Rasheda Choudhury
from CAMPE in Bangladesh as someone<BR>who was very active around the GCAP
presence at the UN last September and<BR>she is one of the leads for the Asia
region. She was also very active<BR>around the WTO. However if anyone wants to
suggest other names please do<BR>so within the next 24 hours. If I receive no
other names I will confirm<BR>Rasheda, if there is more than one name ? I will
suggest a quick process<BR>to resolve the matter.<BR><BR>Whoever is put
forward I will stress in my reply to Jan Eliasson that they<BR>are NOT a GCAP
representative, but merely someone from within GCAP who can<BR>help advise on
the process.<BR><BR>As even the interim IFT is not yet fully confirmed, this
e-mail list is<BR>not yet complete and this decision is not a formal one.
Given the urgency<BR>(if we don?t confirm someone now then we will miss the
opportunity<BR>altogether) we need to decide this matter before we get the
full interim<BR>IFT list set up so I thought it was better to consult
