The panel I was invited to talk in <BR>was: "On the road to 2015: Putting the MDGs in Perspective".<BR>The conference took place in The Hague from 4 to 7 July. <BR>I am attaching the guiding points I used for the presentation. It was a 15 <BR>minutes presentation so there is a lot of content that goes into each of the <BR>bullets, so I will try to write it and send it to you all. It was an
<BR>important occassion to present our critical view of the MDGs, particularly <BR>highlighting how they have become the main development discourse and leaving <BR>in the process many of the achievements made by the women and feminist <BR>movement and other social movements (particularly Adult Education) at the UN <BR>conferences during the 90s. I shared the panel with UNDP representatives, so <BR>you can imagine that there was quite an interesting debate. I was happy <BR>because although some participants felt my points were a bit too critical, <BR>others were enthusiastic with having those arguments being brought to the <BR>discussion. <BR>So attached is the power point and I will try in the coming days to send the <BR>full presentation.<BR>Greetings,<BR>Ana<BR><BR>Amigas, <BR>la semana pasada estuve en La Haya participando de la conferencia por los 50 <BR>anhos de la SID (Sociedad Internacional para el desarrollo). La conferencia <BR>se organizo bajo el titulo:
Reconciliando las dicotomias del desarrollo: <BR>miradas hacia adelante. Me invitaron a hacer una presentacion en el panel "En <BR>camino hacia el 2005: poniendo los ODM en perspectiva"<BR>Adjunto la guia que use para mi presentacion. Duro unos 15 minutos, de manera <BR>que en cada uno de los encabezados hay mucho contenido que tratare de <BR>escrirlo y mandarselos. Fue una ocasion importante para presentar nuestra <BR>vision critica de los ODM, destacando como se han convertido en el discurso <BR>dominante del desarrollo y como por el camino dejaron de lado los logros <BR>obtenidos por el movimiento de mujeres y feminista y otros movimientos (en <BR>particular el de Educacion de jovenes y adultos) en las conferencias de los <BR>90. En mi panel habia un representante del PNUD, asi que se imaginan que se <BR>produjo un debate muy interesante. Yo quede contenta, pues si bien algunos <BR>participantes entendieron que mi presentacion habia sido demasiado critica, <BR>otros
