Subject: Fw: [CAN-talk] APPLY for Funding: Southern Participation in Bonn

Dear all,

Please see important information below from the Climate Action Network.
They have some funding available for people from the global South to attend
all of the UNFCCC climate meetings this year which will be held in Bonn,
Bangkok and Copenhagen.

All of the details are clear below.

I would like to encourage GCAP friends from the South to consider applying
for this important opportunity and to be able to represent GCAP at these
meetings. I will likely be in attendance in most also, as will other people
copied here.

Please do apply directly or if you have more questions come to me.

Yours
Ben

Subject: [CAN-talk] APPLY for Funding: Southern Participation in Bonn

Please read below for information on how to apply for funding from CAN for
Southern CAN members to participate in the upcoming UNFCCC sessions. Note
deadline of 24 February!!!

Dear CAN members,

As you know, CAN International is embarking upon a major initiative in line
with our Southern Capacity Building program, to increase participation and
capacity of our members and partners in the Global South. One of the major
aspects of this initiative is acquiring and facilitating funding for
participation by CAN members from the Global South in the upcoming UNFCCC
sessions this year. We are happy to confirm that CAN-International will be
in a position to fund as many as 15 to 20 participants from the South at each
UNFCCC session this year, with hopes for more depending on further
fundraising success.

Our goal in this aspect of the program is to identify participants who are
suited and able to participate effectively in ALL of the sessions this year
through the CAN program. As such, I have worked with the CAN Board and
regional coordinators from CAN regions in the Global South to develop a set
of guiding criteria for potential participants. In addition, I have worked
with the same individuals to develop a process (outlined below) through which
we will be soliciting applications for funding.

This starts with the upcoming session in Bonn from 29 March to 8 April. With
this email I am soliciting applications from CAN members in the Global South
for funding to participate in this upcoming UNFCCC session.

Please see attached for more information and a form to be filled out to serve
as your application. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE 24 FEBRUARY to
participation en climatenetwork.org <mailto:participation en climatenetwork.org> ,
in order to ensure ample time for travel and visa arrangements.

As far as process, here is the agreed process:
Procedure for selection of Southern Participation funding:
1) Standard criteria for selection agreed (see attached form)
2) Message sent to CAN-Talk, and through regional nodes soliciting
applications
3) Applications sent to participation en climatenetwork.org
<mailto:participation en climatenetwork.org> and will be forwarded to regional
nodes
4) Regional node makes first cuts of applicants
5) Regional node and CAN-International Secretariat work together to make
final decisions
6) CAN-International Secretariat notifies successful applicants, with cc to
regional nodes as appropriate

Applicants are to send their applications to participation en climatenetwork.org
<mailto:participation en climatenetwork.org>

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. In addition, if
you know of CAN members that may be eligible but have not seen this message,
please do pass it along ASAP.

Best regards,
David
