uruguayo del embate opositor que significó la huelga de trasporte que arrancó
ayer. Se trató de la primera manifestación masiva en la historia de la central
obrero uruguaya PIT-CNT a favor de un gobierno y durante cinco horas paralizó al
país con proclamas en contra de “la amenaza golpista de la derecha” y a favor de
las “medidas de distribución de la riqueza, como la rebaja del boleto escolar”.
Así la central sindical cumplió con la promesa que había hecho el lunes de
respaldar al gobierno en la puja con los sectores económicos concentrados. La
consigna fue unánime: “No hay que ceder al chantaje de las patronales”. El paro
no fue apoyado sólo por los sindicalistas. Legisladores del FA, como el senador
Rafael Michelini; el secretario general del Partido Socialista, Eduardo
Fernández, y autoridades de la Universidad de la República también participaron
de la marcha que terminó con un acto frente al Congreso. La movilización estuvo
acompañada por un paro nacional que tuvo un acatamiento casi total en los
servicios públicos, algunas industrias y el sector de
