de enfrentamientos con la Policía. La muerte de "El Bebe" Sosa en la plaza
Marconi quedó grabada a fuego. Una rapiña en la panadería del barrio hizo que
laPolicía entrara en la zona en octubre de 2012 y el operativo, que enardeció a
los vecinos, se transformó en un enfrentamiento con piedras y disparos. Y
terminó con Sosa, de 25 años, tirado en el suelo. Un cerco policial rodeó el
barrio durante los tres días que siguieron, aunque los efectivos poco podían
hacer contra el odio que se había generado hacia ellos. Neumáticos en llamas,
balazos, robos a taxis y autos incendiados adornaban la escena. El
enfrentamiento fue una marca importante tanto para vecinos como para el propio
Ministerio del Interior. De tal modo, que el gobierno se sintió en la obligación
de apurar las decisiones para dar inicio al programa Siete Zonas, que busca
mejorar la convivencia y la seguridad en los barrios Cantera del Zorro,

anecdótico sino que revela cuál ha de ser la política sindical del tercer
gobierno del Frente Amplio. Es de señalar la insistencia de Tabaré Vázquez en
emitir un mensaje tendiente a reafirmar los lazos que unen al gobierno de
izquierda con la central sindical. “Vamos a gobernar con ustedes”, había dicho
el presidente en la inauguración del congreso, para agregar a continuación: “no
queremos que nos sigan, queremos que nos guíen; no nos dejen solos”. Por más que
Tabaré sea el presidente de todos los uruguayos -como él mismo se ha encargado
de recordarlo-, a nadie escapa la sintonía existente entre el movimiento
sindical y la coalición de izquierda que gobierna el país desde 2005. No pocas
de las primeras medidas adoptadas por Vázquez al asumir su primer gobierno se
