“Gral. Artigas” 88.9FM de Toledo fue galardonada con una placa "por su destacado

compañeros y compañeras de Toledo por este merecido premio a su esfuerzo y
tenacidad, así como nos alegramos por su aporte permanente a la Asociación
Mundial de Radios Comunitarias AMARC-Uruguay.<BR> Desde
1999, los objetivos de la Radio Comunitaria de Toledo “Gral. Artigas” 88.9 FM,
han sido desde la gestación de la idea cubrir la necesidad imperiosa de que la
zona contara con un medio de comunicación local.<BR> La
Fundación del Primer Museo Viviente de la Radio y las Comunicaciones del
Uruguay, en el marco del 25º aniversario, realizó el pasado martes 17 de mayo,
la Vigésimo Primer Entrega Anual del Premio "CX" en Comunicación a nivel
nacional e internacional; celebrándose además el “Día Mundial de las
Telecomunicaciones y de la Sociedad de la Información” y el “Día Mundial de
Internet”.<BR> El Premio "CX" en Comunicación, a nivel
Nacional e Internacional ha sido creado por Antonio Tormo, fundador
director del Primer Museo Viviente de la Radio y las Comunicaciones del Uruguay,
"Gral. José Artigas". En el evento, se realizaron homenajes y premiaciones para
distintos rubros en la Cultura y Comunicación en general. Incluido anualmente en
la lista mundial de eventos de la UIT para esta
fecha.<BR> La Asociación Cultural de Toledo a través de
la radio comunitaria Radio Artigas FM brinda un espacio en el cual toda la
comunidad, ya sea mediante comisiones pro-fomento, instituciones educativas,
culturales, deportivas y sociales, o con la voz propia de cada vecino, todos
pueden expresarse.<BR> Difunde asimismo toda la
información, permitiendo el acceso a las novedades de los mas diversos
acontecimientos hasta de los vecinos ubicados en las mas remotas zonas rurales,
pues la ciudad ocupa una vasta superficie.<BR>
Actualmente transmite para una audiencia potencial de 100.000 habitantes que
deben recorrer varios kilómetros trasladándose desde sus hogares hasta el centro
urbano de nuestra ciudad, muchas veces sin contar con la certeza de si al lugar
al cual se dirigen se va a encontrar abierto o si la consulta médica fue
suspendida, o si las canastas ya están siendo entregadas, o si se están
realizando anotaciones para la ficha médica o un sin fin de situaciones que a
diario la emisora cubre, acortando las distancias entre los habitantes y
permitiendo optimizar los traslados, y buscando brindar una mejor calidad de

Solo para reflexionar.<BR> El por qué somos como somos o
hacemos lo que hacemos. A muchos les conviene que olvidemos. Antes de innovar o
fusionar, asegurarse de resguardar la raíz para conservar la memoria
histórica.<BR> Saber de dónde venimos es imprescindible
para saber hacia dónde queremos ir y sobre todo; hacia donde NO queremos
ir.<BR> Implica respeto a la ancestralidad, a los
antepasados que somos hoy de los que vendrán. Cualquiera podrá aprender a tocar
tambores de candombe, adquirir la técnica, ser incluso un purista del ritmo. Se
perderá la espiritualidad y por ende la esencia si no sabemos o somos capaces de
explicar, cuál fue la razón por la que así lo hicieron nuestros abuelos en
homenaje a una identidad cultural hoy integrada al ser nacional aunque no
debidamente reconocida en igualdad de oportunidades.<BR>
Es imprescindible que sean relevadas en su real magnitud las historias de dolor
y sufrimiento de la trata esclavista y la diáspora africana madre
cultural.<BR> De allí vienen nuestros primeros tambores
que fueron de invocación a la libertad pidiendo el regreso a la Madre
Africa.<BR> No por una vocación de morbo o afición al
dolor, sino para que no se repitan crímenes de lesa humanidad como la
esclavización y el sometimiento que sufrieron pueblos africanos durante los
períodos nefastos del colonialismo al igual que los
originarios.<BR> Eso es buscar humanos derechos y es
parte fundamental de la lucha por equidad social y contra la injusticia, la
discriminación racial y por el combate al racismo estructural. </SPAN><B><SPAN

size=2 face=Arial> El 26 de Mayo se celebra en Uruguay el "Día
del libro", por ser el aniversario de la apertura pública de la Biblioteca
Nacional.</FONT>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial> La creación de una biblioteca
pública de carácter nacional fue propuesta al Cabildo de Montevideo el 4 de
agosto de 1815 por el Pbro. Dámaso Antonio Larrañaga, quién envió una carta al
Cabildo en la cual proponía suplir con buenos libros, la falta de maestros e
instituciones. Planteó la necesidad de crear una biblioteca pública donde
pudiesen concurrir los jóvenes, y todos aquellos que quisieran acceder al
saber.<BR> En la propuesta, Larrañaga ofrece para la
biblioteca todos sus libros "dos grandes estantes", reservándose solo unos pocos
para sí de uso diario, y anuncia que varios de sus amigos donarán sus libros
para la biblioteca también.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial> El Cabildo apoya este
proyecto y se lo comunica a José Artigas <A
href="http://www.chasque.net/guifont/artigas.htm">http://www.chasque.net/guifont/artigas.htm</A>
que se encuentra en Purificación, quien responde apoyando fervientemente el
proyecto.<BR> José Gervasio Artigas, quien se hallaba en el
Campamento de Purificación, cursó una nota fechada el 12 de agosto de 1815 al
Cabildo. En la misiva daba el visto bueno para que se procediera a la creación
de aquella primera Biblioteca Pública. "...yo jamás dejaría de poner el sello de
mi aprobación a cualquier obra que en su objetivo llevase esculpido el título de
la pública felicidad. Conozco las ventajas de una biblioteca pública y espero
que V.S. cooperar con el esfuerzo e influjo a perfeccionarla coadyuvando los
heroicos esfuerzos de tan virtuosos ciudadano..."<BR> El 28 de
agosto del mismo año, Artigas le escribió a Larrañaga transmitiéndole su
convencimiento sobre la utilidad de la iniciativa: "...y su esperanza de que el
Cabildo continuar con cuanto Ud. juzgue necesario para su mejor adorno y pronto
arreglo."<BR> Un aporte interesante para dotar de libros a la
nueva biblioteca, llegó a través del legado del presbítero José Manuel Pérez
Castellano, ilustre ciudadano fallecido el 5 de setiembre de 1815, quien legó un
importante acervo bibliográfico. A esta donación se sumaron los libros aportados
por José Raimundo Guerra, los padres franciscanos y el donativo del propio
Larrañaga quien ya poseía en aquella época una vasta
colección.<BR> Finalmente, la Biblioteca fue instalada en el
Fuerte, la casa de gobierno de ese entonces, ubicada en la Plaza Zabala. Comenzó
con aproximadamente 5000 libros, producto de diversas donaciones. Pero durante
la dominación luso brasileña (1817-1828) esta colección se vio dañada, y quedó
reducida a unos dos mil volúmenes.<BR> El 26 de mayo de 1816,
se realizó la apertura de la Biblioteca Nacional donde Larrañaga, quien fue
designado como director, pronunció lo que se conoce como su Oración Inaugural.
En el discurso expresó entre otros conceptos que "una biblioteca no es otra cosa
que un domicilio o ilustre asamblea en que se reúnen, como de asiento, todos los
más sublimes ingenios del orbe literario o por mejor decir, el foco en que se
reconcentran las luces más brillantes que se han esparcido por los sabios de
todos los países y de todos los tiempos. Estas luces son las que el ilustrado y
el Gobierno vienen a hacer comunes a sus conciudadanos."<BR> A
continuación y por resolución de Artigas, el 30 de mayo de 1816, los centinelas
del ejército oriental usaron como santo y sería: "Sean los orientales tan
ilustrados como valientes", como adhesión a la flamante Biblioteca
Nacional.<BR> En el año 1926 se adquirió el predio del actual
edificio de la Biblioteca Nacional. La piedra fundamental se colocó el 26 de
mayo de 1937, la nueva sede se ocupó en 1955, y finalmente se inauguró
oficialmente en 1964. Emplazado en 18 de Julio 1790 y Tristán Narvaja, fue
proyectado por el arquitecto Luís Crespi, cubre un área de <BR>aproximadamente
4.000 metros cuadrados y posee cinco plantas y subsuelos.<BR>
Actualmente, el acervo de la institución atesora un valioso archivo documental
literario uruguayo, así como importantes colecciones de mapas, planos,
fotografías, postales y grabados, entre otros. <B><SPAN
