Subj: RE: please sign on letter or send letter to President of the GA
Hi all,
I just want to underscore the importance of Gea’s request for other regional
focal points and groups to join in signing the proposed letter to the
General Assembly President. Government representatives are returning now to New
York and there are only a few weeks left in this session of the General
Assembly. We need the President of the General Assembly, who is from Macedonia, to
hear from women around the world how important it is to move the GEA process
forward in this session.
Thanks very much. June

Subject: please sign on letter or send letter to President of the GA
Dear all,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the options and a great thanks as
well to our lobbyists in New York, trying to bring our comments together
and co-develop with all of us our global strategy.
In addition to advising/lobbying governments in what options to take, we
have heard from different sources that it is important to also lobby the
President of the General and encourage him to take more leadership in the process by
proposing a clear process for the next GA in which they can discuss GEAR
further. Within the European Working Group we have prepared a letter to ask him
that. We think the letter will have the most impact if as many organisations
as possible send/fax/email this to him. Or if not possible, sign on to the
letter we are going to send.
So my request is: can you send the attached letter -adapted in the way you
like- on to the president of the General Assembly? Or if not, can you sign on
this letter we are planning to send on Thursday morning 28 of August GMT
time? You can drop me an email before Thursdaymorning 10 AM.
This letter encourages the president to take leadership and propose a good
process/resolution (stand alone or within a general one, that does not
matter) that will ensure a process whereby the GEA options are concretely further
discussed in a timeline that is set out in the next GA.
I thank you for your consideration in advance.
best wishes!
