Well,
as you can see, this has generated great interest. I think that we can ask
IFT if we can have two reps, one from Latin America (Marcela) and another
one from Asia. To our Asian colleagues, do you think that someone from the
Migrant Forum in Asia could be a good rep for us?
I look forward to your comments,
Ana

WorkingGroup
Hello Ana,
Hope all goes well. I find the idea of the new group that will be formed
very interesting and am wondering if we could join the group from a sectoral
/ thematic perspective. We are only beginning to explore the links between
migration and climate change while there are clear linkages between
migration and poverty. I find the cross-cutting nature of the discourse
crucial to the type of policies that will be drawn up both in relation to
climate as well as development. This year the Philippines will be hosting
the second global forum on migration and development and it would be
important to bring to the table the complexity of the discourse as a
cross-cutting issue and not gloss over important dimensions of the discourse
as is currently happening in the so called ' managed migration' agenda.
Do let me know if it is agreeable. Check out our website if you need more
information about the GFMD or us, migrant forum asia.
Courage, Peace, Power in a life full of meaning.
William.
