[Gcap-mujeres] Reunion Toronto/Toronto meeting

The FTF Strategy Meeting is planned fro next month. We are in full swing preparing for the meeting in Toronto from 11-13 August, just days before the AIDS Conference begins on 13 August. Although we have no official answer from the funders yet, we do have some positive indications and that has encouraged us to make some concrete moves.  Thanks to the support of AWID, which as you know is providing all the assistance for the logistics of the meeting and booking the accommodation in Toronto. That is at the Chestnut Residence at the University of Toronto. We have also booked the meeting room which is very near the AWID office. 

We will be getting the final answer from the funders this week, but are working to compile the final list of participants. 
In our proposal we requested funds for the following tickets:
- the two FTF AND IFT representatives (Rosa and myself)
- two from Latin America
- two from Africa
- two from Asia
- two from Europe
- 1 from South Pacific 

We also said that we would like young feminists, women from the labour movement, from international women's organisations and from the organisations that helped in the launch of the FTF to participate. Some of these women must be self-funded (perhaps piggy-backing on the AIDS Conference) as the number of tickets we can cover are 11 according to the list above. We have had various indications throughout this period. Up to now the confirmed names are Rosa, Nerea who is our representative on the Mobilisation Task Force (Europe) and myself.  Also, we expect a colleague from AWID to attend, making it two North Americans. And we also think that Alejandra will be there because she is attending the AIDS Conference. 

Now that the details are clear, mainly in terms of dates, we would like to know and if possible before the end of the week, who will be attending the meeting.  We have received some indication from some of you, particularly from the regions. At this point we need you confirmation. We encourage diversity from the regions, be it sectoral, thematic or age. Remember that the date is from the 11 to the 13 of August. We have booked the hotel to arrive on the 10 and leave on the 15. Those who want to stay longer for the AIDS Conference must cater through other funds (the AIDS Conference goes from the 13 to the 18). Of course we are also hoping that some of our members that will attend the AIDS Conference will join us at the meeting. We are hoping to have around 15 women and we have planned to cater for that number and probably a couple more. 

The draft agenda is basically around the role the FTF will play until the end of 2007, the month of mobilisation in 2006, the strategy for communications and coordination with the national coalitions and GCAP as a whole, and the strategy for our work in general. A more developed draft agenda will be sent soon for your comments. 

So, again, we need confirmations of those attending from the various regions. If those that have indicated that they will participate confirm that they are able to do it in those dates, of course those will be the ones attending from those specific regions. If there are more than the two women who are willing and able to attend per region, we will look together with those involved how to take a final decision. 

Please confirm before the end of the week, by Friday 21 (we are expecting to hear from the funders by the 20).  Bare in mind that many of us might need visas to go to Canada and in many cases the trip might require a stop over in the US which means another visa. So we do not have a lot of time.

La reunion estrategica del ETF esta planificada para el proximo mes. Estamos en plena preparacion de la reunion que sera en Toronto, del 11 al 13 de agosto, apenas dias antes del comienzo de la Conferencia sobre SIDA, el 13. Aun cuando no hemos recibido respuesta oficial aun del grupo de los donantes, tenemos indicaciones positivas que nos han dado entusiasmo y nos animamos a hacer algunas reservas. Esto tambien gracias al apoyo de AWID que como saben esta dandonos toda la asistencia necesaria en los temas logisticos de la reunion incluida la reserva de alojamiento en Toronto. Este sera en la Residencia Chestnut de la Universidad de Toronto. Tambien hemos reservado el salon donde sera la reunion, que queda muy cerca de las oficinas de AWID.

La respuesta de los donantes la recibiremos esta semana, pero queremos ya completar la lista de participantes. En la propuesta que enviamos solicitamos fondos para pasajes de acuerdo con la siguiente lista:
-las dos representantes del ETFen el EFI IFT (Rosa y yo)
- dos de America Latina
- dos de Africa
- dos de Asia
- dos de Europe
- 1 del Pacifico Sur

Tambien indicamos que nos gustaria contar con la participacion de feministas jovenes, representantes del movimiento sindical, de organizaciones internacionales de mujeres y de las que ayudaron a lanzar el ETF. Algunas de estas mujeres deberan cubrir sus gastos (quizas aprovechando su participacion en la conferencia sobre SIDA) pues el numero de pasajes que podemos cubrir es 11 de acuerdo con la lista. En este periodo varias companheras indicaron su interes en participar. Por el momento confirmadas estan Rosa, Nerea que es nuestra representantes en el equipo de mobilizacion y yo. Tambien vamos a contar con la presencia de una companhera de AWID, por lo que seran dos de Norte America con Rosa, y tambien creemos que Alejandra participara ya que ira a la conferencia de SIDA. 

Ahora que los detalles se han aclarado, sobre todo en cuanto a las fechas, quisieramos contar con los nombres de quienes iran a la reunion, antes del fin de semana. Hemos recibido varias indicaciones, sobre todo de las regiones. En este momento lo que necesitamos es la confirmacion. Seria muy bueno contar con diversidad desde las regiones, ya sea sectorial, tematica o de edad. Recuerden que la fecha es del 11 al 13 de agost. Reservamos el hotel para llegar el 10 y salir el 15. Aquellas que quieran quedarse mas por la conferencia de SIDA deberan cubrir sus costos de esos dias (la conferencia de SIDA va del 13 al 15). Por supuesto que confiamos con contar con companheras que van a Toronto precisamente por la conferencia y se nos uniran en la reunion. Creemos que podemos contar con unas 15 participantes o un par mas, y hemos previsto eso en el presupuesto de la reunion. 

La agenda basicamente sea en torno al rol del ETF hasta el final del 2007, el mes de movilizacion en 2006, la estrategia de comunicacion y coordinacion con las coaliciones nacionales y GCAP en general, y la estrategia de nuestro trabajo en general. Les enviaremos pronto una agenda mas detallada para que nos hagan llegar sus comentarios. 

De manera que, nuevamente, les solicitamos confirmacion de quienes vendran de las diversas regiones. Si aquellas que ya indicaron interes confirman que pueden participar en esas fechas, por supuesto que seran ellas quienes vayan en esas regiones. Si en algun caso mas de dos mujeres desean participar por region, veremos con ellas como sera el mejor mecanismo para tomar una decision final. 

Por favor confirmen antes que termine esta semana, el viernes 21 (estamos esperando la respuesta de los donantes para el 20). Recuerden que muchas de nosotras vamos a precisar visa para ir a Canada y que en muchos caso el viaje es via Estados Unidos por lo que se precisara tambien visa para ese pais. Es decir, no tenemos mucho tiempo.
