please find attached the report from the last IFT meeting. The topic that
took more time was the document sent by Kumi about strategic partners. You
might recall that a committee was formed to propose procedures for
observers. The document presented suggested to have strategic partners and
the ones proposed were the Millennium Campaign, plus parliamentarians and
local authorities. These ones are not to become part immediately, and a
discussion still needs to take place, but the Millennium Campaign will join
now. Latin America made it clear that they felt the process to clarify what
is the role of observers had not been completed. The position was noted but
the decision to integrate the MC went ahead. Also the workers joined as
international organisation and the meantime arrangement is that Civicus
became an observers and the workers organisations takes its place until the
final IFT is constituted.
The letter inviting people to join the lists was supposed to go out on
Friday. I have not yet seen it, though of course I saw the draft where I
insisted they present us as FTF because as you recall the name had been
changed by women's movement. It is now, as agreed upon in Beirut,
FTF/Women's movement. We have time till the 16 of July to confirm our
representatives at the IFT, that is myself and Rosa as my alternate.
What might happen is that new members join the list. I hope that if any new
organisations join, that they will send a message to the list indicating
that they have done so.
In the meantime, Rosa and I are almost done with the proposal for the
funders and AWID has been helping a lot with finding accommodation and a
place for meeting in Toronto. The meeting will be from 11 to 13 August and
we hope to be 12 according to the number of those who have indicated that
they will attend. It's very good because we have women from all regions and
that will allow us to plan our involvement with the other GCAP
constituencies in the different regions.
Well, I think that's all. I'll keep you posted of any new developments.

Les adjunto el informe de la ultima reunion del EFI. El asunto que se
discutió mas fue el documento propuesto por Kumi sobre socios estratégicos.
Seguramente recuerdan que se había formado un comité para proponer
procedimientos respecto a los observadores. El documento presentado sugiere
la incorporación de socios estratégicos y uno de ellos es la Campaña del
Milenio, además de parlamentarios y autoridades locales. Estos no se van a
integrar inmediatamente y debe discutirse al respecto, pero la CM ya se va
a integrar. América Latina planteo que el proceso de clarificación sobre el
rol de los observadores no había sido completado. Se anoto esta posición
pero igual se decidió que la CM se integrara. También se integraron los
trabajadores como organización internacional a través de un acuerdo
temporario por el cual CIVICUS paso a ser observador y cedió su lugar a la
organización de los trabajadores hasta que se integre el EFI con su
composición final. La carta invitando a las personas y organizaciones a
sumarse a las diversas listas debió haber salido el viernes. No la he visto
aun, pero por supuesto hice llegar comentarios al borrador en el que
nuevamente aparecíamos como Movimiento de Mujeres y ahora se ha incorporado
nuevamente ETF tal como se peleo en Beirut para que se mantuviera. De manera
que ahora dice ETF/Movimiento de Mujeres. Tenemos tiempo hasta el 16 de
julio para confirmar a nuestras representantes ante el EFI, es decir yo y
Rosa como mi suplente. Lo que puede ocurrir es que se sumen nuevos miembros
a la lista. Confío que si eso ocurre las nuevas organizaciones manden un
mensaje indicando que se han sumado.
Mientras tanto Rosa y yo prácticamente hemos terminado la propuesta para
enviar a los donantes y AWID nos ha ayudado muchísimo a encontrar
alojamiento y un lugar para reunirnos en Toronto. La reunión será del 11 al
13 de agosto y confiamos en ser 12, de acuerdo con el número de las que han
indicado que participaran. Es muy bueno porque hay mujeres de todas las
regiones y eso nos preemitirá planificar nuestra participación también en
las actividades regionales y de otros integrantes de GCAP.
Bueno, creo que es todo por ahora. Las mantendré informadas de cualquier
novedad.
