[Gcap-mujeres] Latin American meeting and FTF/ Reunión AL y ETF

Queridas amigas 

As I mentioned I attended the meeting of the GCAP Latin American facilitation team in Brasilia. It was a very good meeting, with important political debate around GCAP, its orientation, the Latin American context, etc. A document was prepared that highlights the view of the team (and of the national coalitions and other stakeholders present at a continental meeting in February this year preparatory for Beirut) with respect to the context, the definitions taken in Latin America and globally, the future steps as a consequence of this, and a concrete detail of the activities to be implemented regionally and also globally. I will be sending this to you when the editing work is done, and I will translate it into English.

The meeting was very useful for us in terms of inputs for our strategic meeting. They are also very interested in coordinating regularly with the FTF and they see that we have been a very important role-player within GCAP bringing in key issues into the debate, the documents and also the actions. Having a face to face meeting of the facilitation team was an important step for the region to clarify its goals, the plan of action, how they are going to operate during the year, what are their financial needs and how to respond to this in order to act efficiently during this year. I am more convinced than before of the need for us to have a similar meeting in order to plan our strategy and I am very excited that several of you have responded indicating your interest for the meeting proposed for Canada in August. Details of this will follow soon.

Como les mencioné en una comunicación anterior, participé dela reunión del Equipo Facilitador de América Latina en Brasilia. Fue una muy buena reunión, con importante debate político sobre GCAP, su orientación, el contexto latinoamericano, etc. Se preparó un documento que destaca la visión del equipo (y de las coaliciones nacionales y otros integrantes presentes en una reunión continental que tuvo lugar en febrero preparatoria de Beirut) con respecto al contexto, las definiciones asumidas en América Latina y globalmente, los futuros pasos como consecuencia de esto y un detalle de actividades a ser implementado regional y globalmente. Les enviaré esta declaración una vez que esté editada. 

La reunión fue muy útil para nosotras en cuanto a los insumos que aportó para una reunión estratégica. Ellos también están muy interesados en coordinar con regularidad con el ETF y entienden que somos un actor muy importante al interior de GCAP y que hemos logrado levantar asuntos centrales en el debate, en los documentos y también en las acciones. Esta reunión presencial del equipo facilitador de América Latina fue un paso muy importante para la región para clarificar los objetivos, el plan de acción, cómo van a operar a lo largo del año, cuáles son las necesidades financieras y cómo responder a ellas para actuar eficientemente. Estoy más convencida que antes de la necesidad que tenemos de realizar una reunión similar para planificar y estoy muy contenta pues varias de ustedes han respondido indicando que tienen interés en participar de la reunión propuesta para agosto en Canadá. Informaciones respecto a la reunión llegarán pronto.
