I was invited to make a presentation at the SID (Society for International 
Development) 50th Anniversary Conference, entitled: "Reconociling the 
Dichotomies of Development: Ways Forward". The panel I was invited to talk in 
was: "On the road to 2015: Putting the MDGs in Perspective".
The conference took place in The Hague from 4 to 7 July. 
I am attaching the guiding points I used for the presentation. It was a 15 
minutes presentation so there is a lot of content that goes into each of the 
bullets, so I will try to write it and send it to you all. It was an 
important occassion to present our critical view of the MDGs, particularly 
highlighting how they have become the main development discourse and leaving 
in the process many of the achievements made by the women and feminist 
movement and other social movements (particularly Adult Education) at the UN 
conferences during the 90s. I shared the panel with UNDP representatives, so 
you can imagine that there was quite an interesting debate. I was happy 
because although some participants felt my points were a bit too critical, 
others were enthusiastic with having those arguments being brought to the 
discussion. 
So attached is the power point and I will try in the coming days to send the 
full presentation.

la semana pasada estuve en La Haya participando de la conferencia por los 50 
anhos de la SID (Sociedad Internacional para el desarrollo). La conferencia 
se organizo bajo el titulo: Reconciliando las dicotomias del desarrollo: 
miradas hacia adelante. Me invitaron a hacer una presentacion en el panel "En 
camino hacia el 2005: poniendo los ODM en perspectiva"
Adjunto la guia que use para mi presentacion. Duro unos 15 minutos, de manera 
que en cada uno de los encabezados hay mucho contenido que tratare de 
escrirlo y mandarselos. Fue una ocasion importante para presentar nuestra 
vision critica de los ODM, destacando como se han convertido en el discurso 
dominante del desarrollo y como por el camino dejaron de lado los logros 
obtenidos por el movimiento de mujeres y feminista y otros movimientos (en 
particular el de Educacion de jovenes y adultos) en las conferencias de los 
90. En mi panel habia un representante del PNUD, asi que se imaginan que se 
produjo un debate muy interesante. Yo quede contenta, pues si bien algunos 
participantes entendieron que mi presentacion habia sido demasiado critica, 
otros estaban entusiasmados con que los argumentos que yo presente hubieran 
llegado a ese espacio.

el resto.
