      Below and attached I send you the new text/languages and policy paper of the Indigenous Peoples Caucus:

      One of the expected outcomes of Copenhagen will be the ‘Shared Vision’ document (non-paper 43, in conjunction with 33, 37 and 38) which will have general ‘overarching principles’.  The IIPFCC has developed a draft paragraph to include in this Shared Vision, please see below.

      Shared Vision Outcome Document

       

      Paragraph on Indigenous Peoples’ Rights for the Overarching Principles of the Copenhagen Outcome 

       

      Acknowledging and determined to respect international human rights standards that establish moral and legal obligations to protect and promote the full enjoyment of indigenous peoples’ collective rights in the context of climate change, including their rights to their lands, territories and resources, traditional knowledge, their free, prior and informed consent consistent with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and their full and effective participation in all climate change related processes at the global, regional, national and local levels.

      Párrafo sobre derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas en los Principios Generales para el resultado de Copenhague

       

      Reconociendo y determinado a respetar los estándares internacionales de derechos humanos que establecen obligaciones morales y legales para proteger y promover el pleno goce de los derechos colectivos de los pueblos indígenas en el contexto de cambio climático, incluyendo sus derechos a tierras, territorios y recursos, su consentimiento libre, previo e informado, coherente con la Declaración de la ONU sobre los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas (UNDRIP), y su participación plena y efectiva en todos los procesos relacionados con cambio climático a niveles globales, regionales, nacionales y locales.
