Call to Action: International Women's Day (8 March)
The Feminist Task Force-GCAP will launch an e-campaign on, International Women’s Day, March 8th, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Beijing World Conference on Women (Beijing +15) and coinciding with the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). At the Beijing women’s conference, women highlighted 12 critical areas of concern in the Platform for Action.
The e-Campaign will run 12 days from March 8–19th, each day highlighting one critical area of concern, beginning with Women and Poverty, and including the issues Education, Health, Violence Against Women, Armed Conflict, Economy, Decision-Making, Institutional Mechanisms, Human Rights, Media, the Environment and ending with the Girl Child. Each day will see a Daily Action Alert with a summary of the topic, proposed action and invitations to raise awareness and visibility of the issue through blogs and events.
GCAP invites all partners to join the e-Campaign and to support “Gender Equality to End Povertyâ€, and share with us the initiatives that you will be taking on this occasion.

'AU At the Table' campaign to support the formal membership of the African Union in the G20 launched
As part of its advocacy for the democratic reform of the G8/G20 forums, GCAP has launched a public campaign to mobilize support for the inclusion of the African Union (AU) as a formal member of the G20. GCAP coalitions from Malawi and Ethiopia, as well as partners such as Oxfam came together to organize a 'launch event' of the campaign alongside the meetings of the African Union in January 2010.
In the coming months, GCAP coalitions across G20 countries will be coming together to enable further support and momentum for this campaign, while also linking with networks and regions to strengthen the efforts that emerged from the 'G8/G20 Civil Society Planning meeting' on the advocacy actions towards G8/G20 meetings being held this year in Canada (June) and S. Korea (November).
